Mississippi Goddam

A shocking poll that was just released, indicates that an overwhelming number of white Mississippians are loathe to vote for a black candidate. Unlike some other states, white males there are unambivalently intent upon pulling their levers for Monster. While this stark reality contradicts the “unlevel playing field” Monster bemoans at every opportunity; it certainly indicates that there is one. It just doesn’t have anything to do with her vagina. Her race, strangely enough, will garner her a very significant portion of the Mississippi vote.

Also known as the Magnolia State; Mississippi has the second to the lowest per capita income in the country– right above Louisiana. The notorious racist Senator Trent Lott, has represented Mississippi for nearly 20 years. A lifelong segregationist, he came out as one as a student in the 1960’s, by fighting the desegregation of his fraternity, at the University of Mississippi. Referring to Strom Thurmond’s segregationist bid for the white house in 1948, (Thurmond’s party ran under a platform that declared in part, “We stand for the segregation of the races and the racial integrity of each race.”)Lott infamously declared at Thurmond’s 100th birthday party in 2002,

I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn’t have had all these problems over all these years, either.”

The Mississippi state flag generously incorporates the Confederate flag, and the state bird, is the mocking bird, as in to kill a.

The state of Mississippi taken into context, just might give some of those white women pause, who so offensively and relentlessly declare that Monster’s rich white female status constitutes a far greater struggle than that of a black man. Names4things is also not taking any bets that Monster won’t be affecting her patronizing ebonic accent on the campaign trail there, either. With black women and men comprising nearly 40% of the state’s population, it would not be surprising if they avoiding pulling it for Monster, in droves. But should Obama win any delegates in Missippi, we can reasonably expect her to parse it as yet another occasion where black people will only vote for other black people. Or she might draw some parallels again between his and Jesse Jackson’s symbolic run. We can only be sure of one thing, and that is that Monster will utilize her southern strategy in the profoundly racist state of Misissippi as broadly and as effectively as is subhumanly possible. Because that’s how she rolls. Overly entitled, and destructive; if she can’t have it, she can at least block an uppity Negro like Obama from getting it.

Still, we are all richer for having had the presence of the divine Nina Simone in our midsts. Her unique and passionate gifts were unlike any other. While she was performing and marching in the south in the 60’s, Monster was campaigning for Barry Goldwater, who was against the Civil Rights Act. Mississippi Goddam indeed.

Nina Simone was and will always be, perfectly splendid.

I agree with you about the Borg Queen. She and her posse will no doubt roll into Mississippi and she will begin using her embarrassingly affect patois stopping just shy of braying, “What up my peeps?”

Whenever she opens her piehole and starts screeching, the hairs on the back of my neck go up and I have to shut off the TV. Just like my reaction to George Bush, whenever he starts’ a drawling and servin’ up his phony cornpone.
